This easily recognized actress lived to the ripe old age of 91 ,she began her career in 1922 on Broadway before moving onto films in the 30`s starring in classics like Magnificent Obsession (1935) and Love Affair (1939).But it was only when she teamed up with Cary Grant and tried her hand at comedy that her career properly took off , best remembered films being My Favorite Wife (1940) and Penny Serenade (1941). She retied from the screen in 52 to concentrate on her foundation The Irene Dunne Guild, which upon her death had raised more than $20 million for various charitable organizations .
