I have a suspicion that America invented the Soap Opera.... Peyton Place must have been one of the very first.

But while soaps in the UK were gritty, working class... like Coronation Street...
America came up with glam and glitz... Dynasty, Dallas etc... like soaps from another world.

Got to say they came up with some hot soap babes.... Linda Evans, Victoria Principal for eg.

( somehow I dont think Elsie Tanner and Deidre are in their league )
