VEF dislikes outside links, but her Wiki lists a sad 6-26-1996 Houston Chronicle article. Melissa suffered from uterine problems and depression, and in July 1995 was advised to undergo a hysterectomy and shock treatment, which left her effectively disabled and homeless at 24. She mentions she'd been raped, and the drugs alone left her unable to leave her parents' house for six months. Google lists several 1999-2000 LA Times articles about a (successful) medical malpractice lawsuit that don't mention Melissa by name. Let's hope she's alright today.
