Sharron Nicole Redmond, was charged with murdering her 'two-timing' boyfriend, Kevin Shorter, but was acquitted in 2005 after claiming she acted in self-defense after she said she thought he was reaching for a gun. He did not have a weapon, and he’d neglected to informer her that he had another fiancée.

The acquittal caused some controversy as she had gone to her rivals house with a gun, and normally in the US that would mean prison at the very least. When Shorter turned up and was abusive, Redmond testified that she had only intended the shot as a warning, because she feared Shorter was reaching for a gun in his car; she said she didn’t aim at Shorter. Crime scene photos showed a dent on Shorter’s car where the bullet appeared to have ricocheted before hitting him in the right buttock, severing his femoral artery. Shorter died from blood loss three days later at a hospital.

Shorter’s family sued Redmond for wrongful death. Redmond counter sued with a lawsuit of her own .... the details are here.

Angela Bertugli was hired by Michael Manzo, the chief of staff of Pennsylvania State House Majority Leader H. William "Bill" DeWeese, because he was having an affair with her, to do pretty much nothing vertical for $30,000 a year. Her only CV entry was that whe was Waynesburg’s Miss Rain Day 2001, however it was her less obvious talents that attracted Mr Manzo

In a retrospective review of the above-described events, Bertugli concluded, with certainty, that Manzo hired her because she was “having sex with him.” This young intern lady also got her apartment paid for and a $7,000 bonus, even though she admits she was spending “70 percent of the time” doing law school homework.

This came out as part of a political scandal over staffers including Mrs Manzo getting extra large bonuses, with Mr DeWeese's position under threat, but he did not step down, sacked Mr Manzo, and was re-elected in 2008.

Amy Fisher, became infamous as the “Long Island Lolita”, who in 1992, at the age of 17, shot the wife of her 36 year old lover Joey Buttafuoco. However time takes its toll and in 2007 she made a number of sex tapes with her current husband Louis Bellera.

As is normally the case with these pesky little video tapes, in late 2007 a series of nude pictures of Ms Fisher appeared on the internet, followed shortly later by several of the videos.

Undeterred by this, and presumably working on the basis that any publicity is good publicity (a credos followed by many on this thread), at the age of 33, Fisher started her own porn site, and released a pay-per-view adult film, oh and she became a stripper as well.

Dorothy Dandridge was a popular actress and singer who fought against the colour bar in the US all her career. She once said "If I were white, I could capture the world."

She had tremendous public successes, notably in Carmen Jones, and Porgy and Bess, but had private life issues.

In 1942 Dandridge married dancer and entertainer Harold Nicholas but they divorced after one child. She remarried in 1959 to Jack Denison but they divorced amid allegations of domestic violence and financial issues. However in between these marriages she shocked contemporary Hollywood by entering into a long running affair with white European Director Otto Preminger, director of Carmen Jones. The affair was only ended by Dandridge when it became apparent that he had no intention of marrying her.

To be fair this apparently wasn't because of the 'colour issue', but rather that he had what is now termed an 'open' marriage with his wife, and they both had a number of affairs, and Preminger enjoyed the freedom this afforded him. He fathered a child by the then married Gypsy Rose Lee in 1944, so he must have been a real operator!

Dandridge found out in the late 1950's that she had been swindled out of $150,000 by advisers, and that she was $139,000 in debt for back taxes. Forced to sell her Hollywood home, and to place her daughter in a state mental institution (she was handicapped), Dandridge suffered a nervous breakdown. She managed something of a comeback, despite ongoing issues with alcohol and drugs before her accidental death from barbituate poisoning.

She has been recognized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Ruth Etting was an American singing star and actress of the 1920s and 1930s, who had over 60 hit recordings, and worked in stage, radio, and film. Perhaps she would best be remembered now for her signature song of "Shine On Harvest Moon".

However her personal life was something of a less successful area. Firstly she, like a few of the girls here, preferred a bit of rough in her men. So possibly it was not a big surprise when she married gangster Martin "Moe the Gimp" Snyder in 1922 and he managed her career.

However things turned sour when she divorced Mr Snyder in 1937, after she had fallen in love with a younger man, her pianist Myrl Alderman. Unfortunately Mr Snyder was not a new man, and in 1938 he shot and injured Mr Alderman.

Synder was convicted of attempted murder but somehow was out a year later after an appeal. Even though divorced, and marrying Alderman after he recovered from his wounds in 1938, the trials, appeals and massive publicity they generated created a huge scandal and her career was finished. She had a brief comeback on radio in 1947 but the sponsors weren't supportive, so that was her last flicker of fame.

Lilyan Tashman, was a Vaudeville, Broadway, and film actress. She was probably best known for her supporting roles as tongue-in-cheek villainesses and the bitchy 'other woman' ..... roles she was born for. She was also an experienced vaudevillian, appearing in Zeigfeld Follies amongst other things.

Unlike many, she easily navigated the transition to the "talkies".....making over 60 films. However after one marraige in 1914, to fellow-vaudevillian, she divorced in 1921. She was fairly openly a lesbian and had numerous backstage same-sex liaisons while in New York City and in Hollywood, and she allegedly was known to initiate sex in rest rooms with women of all ages (ala George Michael).

In 1925, Tashman married openly gay actor and longtime friend Edmund Lowe in what is assumed to be a cover for both of them, and were touted in fan magazines as having "the ideal marriage". The couple entertained lavishly at "Lilowe", their Beverly Hills home, and their weekly parties apparently became full-blown orgies with A-list celebrities seeking invitations.

In 1928, Tashman was introduced to Greta Garbo and began a lesbian relationship the same day but they rowed frequently and by 1932, Garbo had ended the relationship, leaving Tashman devastated. In 1934 she died of cancer and her burial in Brooklyn's Washington Cemetery attracted around 10,000 celebrities, fans, mourners, and curious onlookers; it became a near riot when people were injured and a gravestone was toppled.... she would have enjoyed the notoriety.

Jenni Rivera a Mexican-American song writer and recording artist who signed a recording contract with EMI, and Fonovisa Records in 1993, and has 10 albums to her name.

Her private life has not enjoyed quite the same success, with her ex-husband José Trinidad Marín, arrested after 9 years on the run for alleged child abuse, and for underage sex with Rivera's sister Rosie.

Rivera was arrested herself, for assault after a 'fan' threw a bottle at her and she then hit him with a microphone .... she was released on a $3000 bond.

Then there was the 'sex tape' ......... Oh those home cam corders, what sins they uncover .... 'Fame' (even though she was unknown to me LOL), sex and cameras, just don't mix.
