The setting for this shooting is just exemplary for the 1970’s style of photography: The shooting of a calendar featuring semi-nude pin ups was done a thousand times everwhere in the world. Many of them were shot for advertising purposes and Pirelli finally raised it to an art form. In the late 1970s there were at least five major companies in Austria publishing pin up calendars for a few consecutive years – among them Mobil Oil, Metabo Tools and Steyr Trucks. In 1979 a widely acknowledged photographer from Vienna shot the 1980 calendar for Steyr. There was a clear briefing given to the model agency and also to the models at the casting: It will be a pin up calendar and the models have to pose topless. Twelve scenes were created, six models booked. One of the locations was a quarry and the designated models were Sylvia and Sabine. When the shooting started, Sabine suddenly decided, she never ever will pose topless...
