Had a great time over the Christmas period browsing these 500 plus many pages and it has raised more than just the obvious.
First thought is to thank the lovely delicacies who posed so delightfully for those of us in need of these pocket w**k books. Yes, I know, in probably all cases they were earning a bob or two but nothing like today's modelds so thank you ladies.
Second thought is for those who took the time and trouble to convert their paper format to digital then to take more time to share them with us. Thanks guys.
Third thought is that we have a chance to look back and be reminded of how we lived then and, especially at this time of the year, to recall scraping the ice off the inside of our single glazed bedroom windows in the mornings! Other reminders are of the wallpapers, furniture, open fires, electric (one and two bar) fires we sat around and Lino showing the lack of fitted carpet.
Lastly, many of the photos could not be taken today because of that body of men and women who purportedly work for our good - bloody elf an safety, as all the derilect buildings, castles, barbed wire fences, rickety wooden bridges, etc etc would be either behind fencing, torn down or barred up and noted as Dangerous! Hard hats only! Areas.
