Beautiful Joan Brinkman spoke on camera only once, in 1963's The Bare Hunt, but when she did, she spoke with clarity and nuance, telling us, "You can't shoot me....I'm a beautiful babe, with a beautiful body."

Gorgeous Joan, boasting striking Latin-based exotic good looks, bearing a more than passing resemblance to Liz Taylor, and rumored to be a favorite of Fling Magazine's publisher Arv Miller, was also known throughout her modeling career by a lengthy list of modeling names, including Gina Mayers, Gina Myers, Gina (and Ginna) Sonni, Gina Sony, Marilyn (and Joan) Savage, Sharon Smith, Joyce Marlowe, Jill Richardson, Annabelle Perkins, Annette Fiori, Elvira, Mara, Gayle, Estrellita, Zita, Donna, Stella Riva, Cass Davidson, Jo Rand, Duraine Barton and Gina-Jo. She appeared repeatedly in magazines such as Fling (one of Fling's Favorites during the mid 1960s), Gent, Topper, Spree, Adam, Escapade, BUF Swinger, Touch, Cavalcade, Candlelight, Bachelor, Candida, Figure Annual, Modern Man, 38/26/34, Block Busters, Kingsize and many other big bust oriented specialty men's magazines of the 1960's and 1970's, becoming a Tit Culture icon, owing to her incredibly beautiful, incredibly generous bosom, come hither eyes, raven tresses, and smouldering sensuality.

Her frequent use of the name "Gina" in connection with her modeling work, particularly early in her career, suggests that this may have been her real name, though in Fling, the magazine with which she had her longest, best-known and closest association, she ultimately came to be known as "Joan Brinkman." Ironically, however, nearly every other magazine in which she appeared identified her by some other name.

As an in demand model of the 1960's, Joan was photographed by the leading pinup photographers of the day, including the noted Keith Bernard, but was principally photographed by noted pinup glamour photographer Ron Vogel. Joan also appeared in at least three documented nudie cuties of the 1960's--Bachelor Tom Peeping, Everybody Loves It and The Bare Hunt (aka My Gun is Jammed)--and was rumored, in magazines such as Fling, to have later made some uncredited appearances in a few "spaghetti" westerns of the period, but this remains undocumented, and speculative. She did appear in two "loop" films , doing short stripteases, likely shot sometime in the mid to late 1960's. These later turned up as part of loop collections published by various companies such as Blue Vanities.

Joan's patented "look" was dark, sultry, slinky, exotic and ravishingly beautiful, with marvelously full, yet simultaneously pendulous breasts that looked invitingly soft and perfectly shaped and seemed to be the work of some divine Creator, though she was chameleon-like in that from photo shoot to photo shoot a change of hairstyles, outfits, makeup and even facial expressions could give her a totally new persona. Joan's eyes were wondrous--mischievous and expressive, capped by raven tufts that made perfect accents to her range of emotive expressions. Unlike many models, she had an innate ability to seduce the camera. While it may trivialize her real life accomplishments, in a very real sense one might say that Joan was put on the Earth to model. She was that beautiful.

In later shoots, as the sixties went on, fluctuations in Joan's weight, downward, clawed incrementally away at her pneumatic figure, and not only did her voluptuous features shrink a bit, but her face became noticeably more angular in photo shoots and the aforementioned loops than during her earlier nudie film work, such as in Bachelor Tom Peeping, where she makes a rather breathtaking, full-bodied and full-bosomed appearance. It's probably no coincidence that many men's magazines of the early 1970's elected to re-run Joan's earliest photos, shot during the 1961-62-63 era. Throughout the 1970's, and even into the 1980's, magazines such as 38 26 34, Kingsize, The Swinger, Whoppers and Fling, in its many incarnations and retrospective editions, lovingly memorialized Joan Brinkman and her immortal breasts on their pages for posterity.
