The Bookends...bikini veterans...
I'm much more interested in beach/bikini girls than the main cast...same for Slaygirls in Matt Helm's or or any female extras in old Bond's movies.
So...I don't see so much photos of the Bookends, the couple in every beach movies that open and closed the song scene. The two girls are Salli Sachse and Linda Bent, and they are vets like Mary Hughes, the tall blonde goddess, long term GF of guitar wizard Jeff Beck, and the pretty Patty Chandler...about the Nicholson sisters, Luree and Laura and their "Mommy Dearest" Susan Hart we'll talk in another post. The Bookends, yes sometimes credited as B1 and B2...Linda and Salli...bookending : One left one right...they look similar... Who's Salli...Linda ? Later... Linda Bent...maiden name Linda Jean Opie Los Angeles 3/30/1939 : Yes...I want to play for you...with Vox electric on the beach... And the surfin' dance...I love this photo... Some cheesecakes... Salli Sachse...maiden name Sally Irene Rogers, San Diego 6/25/1946 : Superb pin up photos... This is hot... and a couple of cheesecakes in alluminiun...Dr. Goldfoot promos... Linda cheerleading with a beefcake and splendid Patty Chandler Salli scared to death...with tall goddess Mary Hughes... Weirdly...not together... A sad story...in July 12 1966 their hubbies died together in a plane crash...the Bookends are still friends today, I saw a pic with Mary (sadly passed too) and Patty in 2006. But I don't want to post it... Any info is welcome

For the Record
.
Research on a beach party girl led to this thread, and then there was this post from back in 2007: Quote:
On the 21st page, Wendigo had made an unspecific post in which he posted a link that I luckily clicked on. The resulting VEF thread turned out to be a discussion on the validity of the photo from above, and our leader, Sam Spade, exposed the image for being a fake. Sooooo... even though it has been seventeen years, I'm putting this up here in case anyone else was stopped in his tracks, and believed the shot was authentic. (It's strange how one with malevolent thoughts as I can sink to embarrassing benevolence.) . |
