The rift here beteen the upper 2% & the poor ,& middle classes in actual per anum income increases is alarming to say the least, since 1979.
I am the son of an immigrant on one side,& when my father came here about 60 + years ago when America was teaming with good paying factory jobs.So I am not against sensible immigration, adjusted to reasonable demands,& climate of a countries economic trends.

We are & have been exporting jobs at 100ks per year over the past 30+ years.It seems we are in the bussiness of exporting jobs & importing people.Pat Buchanon said of the circa 3mil people we are bringing in every year (illegals in that number),we have few jobs for them that provide a living wage.In actuality We are getting a city the size of Chicago in pop. every year here for the past 20+ years, how long can that trend continue?There is a direct correlation between overpopulation & rising poverty,we are feeling the first pangs of this in the US at a burgeoning 310mil+ & rising.I agree with Buchanon, in a proposed a moratorium on immigration or greatly curtail it untill we can get our act together,& either move back some factories or create new ,living wage jobs.

I think you misunderstood me. I was talking about Russians, not Slavs. There was a Russian linguist called Nikolaj Trubeckoj (Nikolai Trubetzkoy), a proponent of the so-called Eurasianism. His (and of the like-minded group) idea was that the roots of the Russian statehood are not to be found in the Kievan Rus' (formed by Scandivanian Varangians) but the rule of Genghis Khan.
What he said is that the Russian aristocracy took the political system and agriculture from the Mongols (which is true) but went further to underpin his theory (which was actually a political statement) that Russians were mixing with Finno-Ugric peoples, Turkic tribes and descendants of Mongols (like Tatars). His basic idea was that Russia doesn't belong to either west or east but a geopolitical, historical and cultural "continent" of its own, namely Eurasia. The geographical component (the steppe) was also incorporated into this theory. He would distance himself from this thoughts later.

Russian rulers indeed took the political system from the Mongols but he was wrong about the roots of the Russian state. The Kievan Rus' set the foundations and its first rulers were the Rurik dynasty (until 1598; the first Romanow came to power in 1618). And his theory about Russians mixing with non-Slavs towards the east is also not sustainable, although that might have happened on a regional scale. You have to bear in mind that Russians didn't commit a genocide on the indigenious population inhabiting the Asian parts of their country like what Europeans did with the Native Americans. I've seen blonde Tatars, so their ancestors must've been mixing with ethnic Russians. But the Russians are clearly Slavs overall.
All of this has nothing to do with other Slavs like the Czechs, Poles, Croats etc.

I hope I don't have to continue explaining this in a thread concerned with America.

There is no need to bring the Tocharians into topic. Most Tatars are living in Russia but there are minorities in the Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania. It is quite more reasonable to accept the notion about them mixing with Russians. That's nothing unusual unless you'd say Russians have been racist for centuries which is not true. We have many Turks (from Turkey) here and I have seen some very "un-Turkish" looking Turks. In fact, two Turkish friends of mine are blonde. Well, this is not hard to explain and has a different history. The Ottoman Empire conquered most of Southeastern Europe. Many Bulgarians, Macedonians, Serbs, Bosnians, Croats and non-Slavs like Albanians were islamized. As the Ottoman Empire began to lose these territories (them gaining independence or the Empire being pushed back by the Habsburg Empire), many of these Slavic Muslims emigrated to Turkey where they've been assimilated.

It doesn't make sense to talk about races. Science does not support such views. The race Homo sapiens (sapiens) is diverse but there no races. We're talking about ethnicities. And also the fact that people have been mixing forever makes all this racial categories sound ridiculous. If we take Austria, it's a mix of Germanic peoples, Slavs, Celts, Illyrians and even Romans.
Back in the day when ethnicity didn't matter, blokes would climb any hot woman and wouldn't care about her ethnic background. I'm still one of those blokes. I prefer Latinas, Middle-Eastern chicks (too bad they're too conservative or under surveillance by their families), Asian chicks. Austrian chicks are not interesting for me at all.
