Murderers are always at the lowest end of the totem pole in prison - "honor among thieves" and all. And a serial killer of women is even lower than that.

I'm surprised they even put such a piece of work in the general population, and that he survived these encounters with his fellow inmates.

Actually by all accounts child molesters are at the lowest end of the prison totem pole...murderers are accorded a degree of respect....even if purely from self interested caution-by other prisoners....

Frank Bruno didn't do himself any favours by shaking hands with Sutcliffe. When challenged by the media Bruno claimed he didn't know who Sutcliffe was.
Thus adding more weight to the fact that Bruno is as thick as pig shit, or he's a liar.

Is there any reason why Frank Bruno would have recognised Peter Sutcliffe? I would have known him, but he was from the area I grew up in and he murdered women mainly in that area. I don't think Frank Bruno will ever have a doctorate in quantum physics, but I don't think he's less intelligent than, for example, a typical MP. MPs frequently shake hands with questionable people.

Savile was popular and highly regarded in his lifetime - I used to like him too. I wouldn't imagine Frank Bruno knew more about Jimmy Savile than most other people.

I fear there may well have been worse people than Sutcliffe in Broadmoor the day that photo was taken. Nice guys don't get sent to live there. People sent there are generally both mad and bad.

Former Croatian police and interior ministry official Tomislav Mercep, who was convicted of crimes against Serb civilians who were tortured and killed during the war in 1991, has died at age of 69.

Tomislav Mercep, a former police official and assistant at the Croatian interior ministry, has died “after a severe and long-lasting illness”, the Association of Volunteers of the Homeland War, which Mercep led for many years, announced on Tuesday.

In February 2017, the Croatian Supreme Court sentenced Mercep to seven years in prison for war crimes, although he was freed after serving two years because of ill-health.

He was convicted of not preventing a reservist police battalion nicknamed the ‘Mercepovci’ (‘Mercep’s Men’) from detaining, torturing and killing several dozen mainly Serb civilians at the Zagreb Trade Fair, Kutina in central Croatia and Pakracka Poljana in western Slavonia in late 1991.

A total of 46 civilians were killed by the Mercepovci, three went missing and have not been found, and six were tortured but survived.

The victims included a Serb family – 12-year-old Aleksandra Zec and her two parents – who were killed by the unit in Zagreb in December 1991.

Although members of Mercep’s unit were arrested soon after the killings, in 1992, they were later released due to procedural issues, although they admitted the crimes.

In March this year, the Supreme Court released him on parole after serving three-quarters of his sentence.

The Supreme Court said in a statement that since August 2019, when a previous parole request was denied, the situation had changed because Mercep’s health had “significantly worsened”.

Mercep was the subject of controversy in 2018 when Croatian news site Index reported that he had spent several weeks at a spa instead of in jail.

As Mercep is a Croatian war veteran, War Veterans’ Minister Tomo Medved said he vouched for him as a worthy recipient of the spa treatment.

Apart from Sutcliffe having his photos pumped out alongside the details of his crimes on every media outlet prior and post trial for months on end, no.

Then we could surmise how the conversation went with Jimmy Savile, seeing as it was Savile who did the introductions.....

'Frank this is Peter Sutcliffe. I know what you're thinking, he's not THAT Peter Sutcliffe. Although he strongly resembles him. This is Peter Sutcliffe the car thief.'

We can only surmise. If I had to wager £1.75p on it, I'd still go with Bruno being dumber than I usually give him credit for, or he's lying.
