imagebam is starting to irritate like pimphost did not that long ago
The latest message with its offer of where to spend your time really is bizarre Its almost like a giant ad you cant bypass They'd be better explaining exactly what the real reason for maintenance is if they want our understanding ImageBam is currently offline ImageBam is currently undergoing unexpected maintenance work and will be back up at about 4 hours (01:00 GMT+1). We apologize for the downtime. In the meantime watch one of our favorite videos (not safe for work!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8_Kfjo3VjU Or take a look at one of our favorite websites: http://failblog.org/ Or read our favorite newspaper: http://www.theonion.com Your ImageBam Administrator |

Image venue does it now also...
Noticed the stupid music playing...starting, stopping...next picture...starting stopping...are they NUTS???...I stopped looking yesterday till I realized I had to hit the "mute" button if I wanted to go on.
This does NOT make me want to use the host...the opposite. Raging Buhddist, et al... Now, I have noticed that IMAGEVENUE is doing it...never stopped to look to see which host it was, today I got p.ss'd off and checked. They were playing schlock classical music, then were running an advertisement for some movie Very annoying, I guess I am not the only one who thinks so. Question? Does the host company get paid for running the noise, and assume users will just turn off the sound if we don't like it? Thanks...Pete Quote:

I avoid 95% of the crap by using a downloader (Image Host Grabber in my case, a Firefox add-on) so I don't see the pop-ups/unders/music/ads/etc.
That said, I have noticed that for most of the last week ImageBam has been very unreliable. Lots of failed connections, lots of downtime for "maintenance".

The music probably is annoying (I use adblock, so I don't hear it). However the really dodgy thing with those pop under ads is that they try to connect to your computer. I don't use noscript (because it's actually more of a hassle than the pop-unders -- fortunately few sites use pop-unders). But I do have a firewall set up, and every time that pop-under generates it tries to connect to my computer. It's easily blocked by the firewall, but if you don't have a firewall, then whomever is running that ad is harvesting info from your computer. That plus the fact that imagebam is down for maintenance every other day means that I'm joining the chorus -- stop using that damn site PLEASE! |

Noticed Imagevenue WON'T let you even look at images. Brings up annoying ads, downloads hijack software. These changes happened within the last day or so.

For some reason I'm only getting the "usual" webcam pop under.
Not always, but often if you click on the image. That is all I'm getting. I've also only known Imagebam to be down once, recently. |

""ImageBam encountered an error
The connection to the database failed. Please try again in a minute or so."" the permanent words, that you receive now when you try to pick pics... not a progress :-((( |
