Could it be music copyright issues? (IIRC, the repeats of shows like Top Gear shown on Dave and other satellite channels have the original background music replaced for this reason) Either that or they need to edit the shows down to fit in advert breaks etc and it's easier to take out the Pan's People routines, rather than cutting the Barker & Corbett content of the shows?

I fear the DLT and Saville issues are going to result in a lot of vintage TOTP episodes being lost to the viewer though...Hopefully the PP/Legs & Co routines etc can still be shown in TOTP2-style compilations of classic performances, although I guess they still need to be careful, as Norvik suggested...

I wonder if now DLT has actually been found innocent of everything except, what looks like his word against hers type of thing, they will restore the ones he presents; or will it be still guilty even though found innocent? We just got to the point where Saville had stoped presenting TOTP and now we are missing a load of the DLT ones.

What bugs me is woody alan, jerry lee lewis and roman polanski can be shown either in performance, film or documentary, yet they have all be shown to be guilty of one thing or another. American beauty is fine to be on tv even though it has a topless 16 yo in it, so annoying.

The only routine they showed from the series of the 2 Ronnies they appeared in and for some reason the episode was cut really short.

But he has been found guilty though.
No matter - the BBC have said they won't be showing any more of DLT's presented episodes of Top Of The Pops.
However, they will be continuing to show the programme on BBC Four, so it's into the 1980's from next year.

I don't think it's right. Even if all of them where found guilty of something, why stop broadcasting the programs? It can't be because they're criminals, because if it was then they'd have to stop broadcasting most of their programs.

They gave Lesley Grantham a job on 'Enders and he was a convicted murderer & they run specials of his story lines even after that sex scandal. DLT was a victim of a witch hunt & Saville never went to trial. Why should we the licence payers suffer because the Beeb are feeling guilty & those who might feel "offended" by the sight of these people can always switch off. The Beeb never get it right, just look at that fiasco over P J Proby.

He was actually found innocent on ALL counts, except one and we do not know the circumstances of that. For all we know he just made a pass at her, like millions of men and women to each other everyday, could have been a bit of flirting, she could have been completely willing, it could have been what she claimed. Like I say, I can't see what type of evidence she had from all those years ago but they just went on her word rather than his. But the fact that he was found innocent on ALL the other claims should mean something.

Even so, to stop ALL of those programs is just plain wrong, do they stop programs on Wagner or his music because he was an extreme antisemite?

The people who are loosing out here is the viewer with the BBC jumping on the hysterical witch hunt bandwagon and grossly over reacting.

Even if he was guilty of everything why should they stop showing the programs? I can watch a Roman Polanski film, even with him in it, and not condone what he has supposed to have done, the two are very different.

Watching a program for the music and Legs and Co, NOT for the presenter does not mean you agree or condone what they might or might not have done in their personal lives.
