Default Vaudeville Artiste: Eva Tanguay

Eva Tanguay who billed herself as "the girl who made vaudeville famous" had a long-lasting vaudeville career and eventually commanded one of the highest salaries of any performer of the day earning as much as $3,500 a week at the height of her fame around 1910.

Satanic sexual revolutionary Aleister Crowley called Tanguay "the perfect American artist. She is… starry chaste in her colossal corruption." And with self-confident songs such as "It's All Been Done Before But Not the Way I Do It", "I Want Someone to Go Wild With Me," "Go As Far As You Like", and "That's Why They Call Me Tabasco" maybe he had a point ... her most famous song was "I Don't Care" which her movie biopic was called after.

She makes it into this thread because she got her name in the papers for allegedly being kidnapped, then allegedly having her jewels stolen, and for getting fined $50 in Louisville, Kentucky for throwing a stagehand down a flight of stairs.

Married three times, Tanguay had her third marriage, to 23 year old pianist Alexander Booke, annulled on the grounds of 'fraud'. Tanguay claimed that 'he had two other names which he used so frequently that she was not sure which one was real.'..... many of the girls on this thread have had the same problem.

Default Miss Canada International: Danielle House

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danielle_House

Miss Canada International 1995 Danielle House is talented, poised, and accused of having a nasty right hook. Police in St. John's, Newfoundland, charged the 20-year-old beauty queen with assault after she allegedly hit a woman in the face in a bar near St. John's Memorial University.

She has a full post of her nude pictures here so these are just tasters ....

Default Socialite: Alice de Janzé, née Silverthorne

Alice de Janzé, née Silverthorne also known as Alice de Trafford and keeper of the noble title Countess de Janzé for a few years, was an American heiress who spent years in Kenya, as a member of the 'Happy Valley' colonials (The setting of the movie 'white mischief').

She was connected with numerous scandals, including her attempted murder of her lover in 1927, as well as the 1941 murder of Josslyn Hay (the Earl of Erroll) in Kenya. Her tempestuous life was marked by promiscuity, drug abuse and several suicide attempts.

She married Count Frederic de Janzé (a race-car driver in the Le Mans race but also a friend of Marcel Proust and Anna de Noailles) in 1921 and quickly gave birth to two daughters. They moved to Kenya where Alice earned the nickname, “the wicked Madonna.” Alice began an affair with first the Earl of Erroll then Raymond de Trafford which caused her husband to take the family to Paris. Alice returned to de Trafford in Kenya, her husband surrendered to the inevitable and began divorce proceedings. after that things went down hill ....

In 1927, she made international news when she shot her lover de Trafford in a Paris railway station and then shot herself. They both survived. She stood trial but was only fined with a small amount of money ($4) and later pardoned by the French state.

She further scandalized the public by marrying, and later divorcing de Trafford. The New York Times summed it up with the headline ..."She Loved Him, Shot Him, Married Him, Divorced Him"

Back in Kenya, when the Earl of Erroll was found shot to death in his car outside Nairobi, Alice was and is chief suspect. Alice appeared at the morgue where Lord Erroll’s body was resting. In front of witnesses, she lifted her dress, rubbed her hand between her legs, wiped her fingers on the corpse’s mouth, and said, “Now you are mine forever.” Eventually Sir Jock Delves Broughton was arrested for the murder (Erroll was having sex with his wife) but let off for lack evidence .... no one was ever prosecuted for the murder.

Alice eventually ended her life in her home in Kenya .... suspicions about her role in Errol's death were never confirmed during her lifetime

Trivia:
  • The movie "White Mischief" with Sarah Miles playing Alice covers some of this affair.

Default Virginia Beauty Queen: Tracy Lippard

Former Virginia beauty queen Tracy Lippard, 23, was convicted of two counts of second-degree attempted murder after attacking a romantic rival and her family. one lawyer in the case put it, a case of "psycho Barbie doll gone bad." She had been Miss Williamsburg 1993 and also competed to become Miss Virginia.

"I had laid awake all night, wanting to know the truth," she testified. "Any woman who has ever been two-timed, or three-timed, or whatever knows the feeling." Mind you her boyfriend was a real jerk who was dating Miss Lippard in Virginia, had impregnated a woman in West Virginia and had been engaged to a third woman in North Carolina.

Miss Lippard, 23, had been charged with 10 crimes, including three felony counts of attempted murder...... They convicted her of two counts of second-degree attempted murder, which means they concluded she had not premeditated her attack on her female rival and her family. Miss Lippard was also convicted of battery, brandishing a pistol, disguising her license plates and carrying a concealed pistol and knife.

She eventually served seven months of a two year sentence in prison.

Apparently our Tracy could turn her recent problems into a profit of perhaps up to $1 million, according to the president of a public relations firm courting her. 'A beautiful woman spurned by her lover, jealousy, rage, an alleged plot to exact revenge - those are plot elements people have found fascinating since Shakespeare's day', said David Hans Schmidt.

Oddly I only found one picture of this girl.... one more turned up and added

Default Princess: Magda Lupescu

Elena Lupescu better known as Magda Lupescu, was the mistress of King Carol II of the Romanians and later (after his abdication), she became his third wife. This indomitable Romanian royal seductress, has had her remains recently transferred from the Braganza chapel in Lisbon, to a monastery in the Carpathians.

The Roman Catholic daughter of a Jewish pharmacist and his Roman Catholic wife. Magda had formerly been the wife of Army officer Ion Tâmpenu. Magda did not apparently adapt well to garrison life and had several affairs. The marriage unsurprisingly ended in divorce, but it is not clear exactly when. Somewhere between 1920 and 1923, when she first encountered King Carol. After the divorce, Magda resumed her maiden name, Lupescu.

Carol made no effort to hide the relationship and flaunted it, and it caused the ensuing scandal. This scandal was aggravated by Carol’s earlier marital behavior (during the first war, he had contracted a morganatic marriage to Ioana “Zizi” Lambrino, although Romania’s Constitution forbade Crown Princes to marry Romanian citizens), as well as by the enmity between Carol and the very powerful Bratianu clan.

In December 1925, when Carol, ended up in Milan in company of Magda, making the front page of almost every Italian newspaper..... As a result he was forced to renounce his right to the throne in December 1925, in favour of his son who became King in July 1927 (Carol later reneged on the renunciation, and was proclaimed King in June 1930). Queen Helena divorced Carol in 1928. Carol also had a son and a daughter by another mistress, Maria Martini, a high-school student.

Limerick on Madame Lupescu:
Have you heard of Madam Lupescu,
Who came to Romania’s rescue?
It’s a wonderful thing
To be under a King:
Is Democracy better I ask you?
(Anonymous)

After Carol had declared himself dictator he was forced to flee Romania aboard a special train stuffed full of Magda, and state treasures. They crossed the border in a hail of bullets as military enemies tried to get revenge. After travelling the world, Carol and Magda finally settled in Estoril, Portugal. There Carol died suddenly of a heart attack in 1953. He was interred in the royal pantheon of the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora in Lisbon. Magda survived him by 24 years.

Both bodies were returned to Romania, Carol was buried inside the royal crypt, poor Magda was only interred in the cemetry as she wasn't royal.

She can be seen on video here

Default Mexican Beauty Queen: Laura Zuniga

Mexican beauty queen Laura Zuniga was arrested with six men on Dec. 22, 2008 while traveling with illegal guns, and around $53,000 in cash, in Zapopan, Jalisco state, Mexico.

According to the Mexican Attorney General' s office statement, she would be released after serving just over a month in prison, after being found in company of a Juarez cartel crime lord and another five presumed drug dealers.

Ms Zuniga declared that in fact she had been 'kidnapped' by her 'boyfriend' Angel Urquiza, who was alleged to actually be head of the infamous Juarez drug Cartel, and that she was 'totally unaware' of his criminal acts, the money, or the guns!

Update: I found out that she was later released without charges ... lucky girl.

Default Showgirl: Billie Burke Ziegfeld

Mary William Ethelbert Appleton Burke began life touring with the circus which employed her father 'Billy Burke' as a clown. Mary became known herself as “Billie Burke,” she is now most remembered for playing Glinda the Good Witch in The Wizard of Oz (1939). However, she began her film career as a stage and silent screen actress.

In 1914, Burke married the famed Florenz Ziegfeld, who was almost twenty years her senior and who previously lived with common-law wife, polish actress Anna Held, as well being a habitual womaniser. Florenz had cheated on Anna with the actress Lilliane Lorraine, and as soon as the affair ended, he moved on to Billie. He continued to chase chorus girls throughout their marraige and they had violent and public rows.

Billie and Florenz had one daughter, and and during the 20's they were the 'King and Queen' of the 'Jazz Age' and led a lavish lifestyle, even keeping a menagerie of animals, including an elephant named “Ziggy.” ....they were rarely out of the limelight and much of their rows and marriage was carried out in the public gaze.

To be fair she was largely blameless in her personal behaviour, but she courted the publicity that marraige to Ziegfeld bought, and refused to divorce him despite his many public affairs and the newspaper speculation they attracted.

However, the Wall Street Crash wiped out their money, and Burke was forced to return to work for the remainder of her life....she poured her own cash into Ziegfeld's magnificent, money-burning productions. Her notoriety faded with her wealth. His death in 1932 left Burke with substantial debts, driving her toward film acting in an effort to settle them. She continued to work in bit parts on films (including 'The Wizard of OZ'), and TV until health concerns and a fast failing memory forced her to retire.

Default Reality TV Nobody: Alexis Neiers

Alexis Neiers is now a convicted felon, television 'personality', and aspiring model...... but most of all she's just a 'wannabee nobody'.

Her sole claim to fame, is that this little hustler was convicted of participating in a string of burglaries of 'stars' houses, totalling over $3m. Notably that of Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean), and Paris Hilton as well as others. After initially pleading not guilty she got a plea bargain on May 10, 2010, and she plead 'no contest' and was sentenced to six months in county jail. Oddly she's able to give press interviews as her sentence actually only starts on the 24th June.

Before the crime she claimed to be a full-time model and actress, as well as a hip-hop, pilates, and pole-dancing instructor. Alexis says, “I will NOT do nudes, but I WILL do implied.” Alexis, also claims to have a secret talent for singing opera,

and told Vanity Fair, “God didn’t give me these talents and looks to just sit around being a model or being famous. I want to lead a huge charity organization. I want to lead a country, for all I know.”

There is an update on her latest escapades here

Default Russian Film Star: Alla Nazimova

Alla Nazimova was a major star in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. She toured Europe, including London and Berlin, with her boyfriend Pavel Orlenev and over the next few years she made a number of highly successful films that earned her a considerable amount of money. By 1917 her contract was earning her $13,000 per week. In 1899 she married Sergei Golovin, a fellow actor. However, the marriage was "in name only"; and the two never legally divorced, and sometime before 1905, Nazimova may have given birth to a child. The father has been speculated to be either her husband Golovin or her lover Orlenev

From 1912 to 1925 Nazimova lived in a "lavender marriage" with actor Charles Bryant, and her tastes seem to have altered ... By all accounts she was extremely generous to young actresses in whom she saw talent and became involved with at least some of them romantically. e.g Patsy Ruth Miller, and she had an affair with Jean Acker. Nazimova lived with Glesca Marshall from 1929 until her death in 1945

Her private lifestyle gave rise to widespread rumors of outlandish and allegedly debauched parties at her mansion on Sunset Boulevard known as The Garden of Alla, built in 1919. But her contributions to the film industry were recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Default Puerto Rican Singer: Noelia

In June 2007, a sex tape of Puerto Rican singer Noelia and her former boyfriend started circulating on the Internet, which generated plenty of sensational coverage by the media in Latin America....... much complicated court action over who defamed who, and who owned the tape, came to a conclusion ......I think.

If I understand it, it started with Noelia accused her stepfather and former manager, Topy Mamery, of sexually assaulting her back in 2003. Hotly denied by him and all the 'witnesses'. Noelia uses this accusation rather loosely, and Noelia has accused Guillermo Santiso, former president of Fonovisa (her old record label), and singer Alejandro Montaner, of sexual assault.

Eventually one of her boyfriends was accused of distribution of the tape but the judge concluded that "although it is true there might be some indication that Reynoso could be connected to the website where the video was sold, the court could not say for sure if he was the one that put it up for sale".
