Thanks Button - Page 4

I'll admit - if I member messages me, they have a low post count and don't appear to be using the Thanks button then their message gets lost... this is subject to the PM content - if they appear courteous and respectful I can make exceptions to this.

I know where you are coming from Flu. I'm not in it for the Thanks count but it is a good way to know if people like the post. You can then make a decision on whether to post content of a similar ilk - after all there's no supply if there's no demand.....

dudics - if I have more to say then Thanks - then "I go wild" by PM'ing the poster to show my appreciation - that's just me

Its almost always a browser setting. Maybe your adblock preferences are too stringy? If you want to test that, use a different browser. Then again, it could be a setting that you have in your antivirus/online protection suite if you use them to protect your privacy settings.

If you have an issue and you want to try to resolve it, the best way to do so is this:
Find this file -

C:/windows/system32 (or syswow64)/drivers/etc/hosts.txt

and delete it. To be able to view that file/folder, you have to enable windows explorer to show hidden files and folders. You can find that under Folder Options/View tab. Not sure yet how to do that under Windows 8/10. All this file is is just a list of blocked IP addresses that is generated by 3rd party apps like Spybot S&D, as well as several others. Deleting this resets those bans.

P.S. - to those of you who just tried to delete that whole root folder (C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts) instead of just deleting said file in said location....THATS ON YOU.

By the way, this will fix a lot of other issues you may be experiencing on other sites as well, likely connectivity issues.

Slightly different problem. I read posts by a female member, just text, no pix and when I go to thank her the thanks button is missing. I reported the post to the mods and it reappeared for a day but is gone again. Weird or what?

If no Thanks list ("The Following NN Users Say Thank You to $member For This Useful Post:") appears below her posts and the Thanks button is also missing, this indicates that the member is banned.
