Were your Parents or Mum OK with you keeping porn

I was having a talk with some of my friends about porn when we were younger and our parents views towards it.

I told them like I had I have written before on the thread called "Did your mum find your porn mags?" about how my mum had seen porn on my computer and she said that there was nothing wrong with me looking at it but do it in private in my room. She had even seen it a few times again afterwards and didn't say a word.

And because of not having to hide it or the taboo around it I was never addicted to porn or turned into a creep like people say happens from exposure to porn. I think in a positive way the novelty of porn or not having to hide it from my mum was never there and so it was just a way to release tension. If anything it helped me become more confident in my own body because it made me realise every man and woman's were different shapes and sizes.

Some of my friends were shocked by my mum's attitude towards porn as their parents would have never allowed it whereas a few of my friends said they either:

a) Their mum or dad knew but as long as it kept well hidden in their own bedrooms they didn't mind or care

b) Their mum or dad knew and allowed it in the open such as having wall posters of naked women and openly allowed them to keep their magazines stored in their bedroom in full view

c) Their mum or dad bought porn either for them or themselves like Playboy and they had free open access to it like a shelf in their family bathroom or cupboard etc


So in the thread called "Did your mum find your porn magazines?" where the majority of people had to hide their collections and even had it thrown out - there were also a few people who had similar experiences to my own and my friends like above.

I just wanted to see if people could expand on their experiences or share if they haven't before where their mum and dads were ok with them looking and keeping porn.

My Mum & Dad didn't mind me having Porn (magazines back then). I kept it out of sight in the closet. My Dad travelled around quite a lot and would find porn mags, especially at service stations and he passed some of his finds to me. My Dad also had his own stash.

My dad had an inspirational collection of porn. I used it regularly over the years. He mine too in the computer age

I know that my mum would not have accepted that, but I kept them away from her eyes. I found my dads porno stash and I'm pretty sure mum was not aware of that. I never told my dad that I had found it. My brother found that same stash later.

I seemed to have been brought up in a household where the permissive society of the 1960s really hadn't happened.

Porn absolutely wasn't allowed at home, and although there were porn mags around at school, I had only limited access to them.

The overall message was that porn was 'evil', and that I shouldn't allow myself to be 'depraved or corrupted' by looking at it.

This did, of course, create tension when I started working with guys who bought and shared porn magazines. My sheltered home life, and the warnings about pornography from the RI teachers at school, then collided with the reality of the outside world.

In fact, I think the repression in my youth made porn - the 'forbidden fruit' - all the more thrilling. I probably can't overstate how excited I was to discover magazines like Fiesta. Naughty, naughty, naughty - but Oh, so nice.

So the attempt to control my behaviour by stopping me viewing porn, probably didn't work in the end.

I wouldn't say that I became addicted to porn. I can go for long periods without seeing it if I have other interesting things to do - but it is a great way of filling in time when nothing else is happening.

And of course, seeing again the high-quality pornography I enjoyed in my youth is a pleasure in itself.

I wonder if any of you who shared dads stash or vice versa ever looked at it together…back in the day when we had landlines I used to ring phone sex numbers and I’m sure once or twice he picked up his phone and could here as he used to tell me to stop wasting money and once that I was a pervert! To be honest I wouldn’t of minded if he wanted to listen in or even participate and same with mags although pretty sure he didn’t have those

Mum was aware and had no issues, I found brothers so assume she found it to and had no issues with his collection either.
