Indonesia rocked by celebrity sex scandal - Three of Indonesia’s biggest stars, Nazril Ariel lead singer of a popular boy band, Peterpan, TV presenter and former girlfriend of Ariel, Cut Tar and Actor, TV presenter and current girl friend of Ariel, Luna Maya have been embroiled in a sex scandal after three videos were uploaded on Facebook.

Two of the videos, one allegedly with Ariel, the lead singer of the pop band Peterpan, having sex with current girlfriend Luna Maya and the second allegedly with Ariel and his former girlfriend Cut Tari was uploaded on Facebook.



Nazril Ariel, the lead singer Indonesian band Peterpan, has sold millions of albums in Indonesia and are well known in Asian countries.

The videos were taken off the popular social network but not before dozens of copies started to emerge in several forum’s, video sharing websites and porn sites in Indonesia.

The video’s have been taken down Facebook and many other websites but it still has not stopped people who have downloaded the videos to re-upload to other websites.

The Indonesian police are investigating the matter and have said in a press conference that they will be bringing the three celebrities in for questioning.

The police spokesman said “We will question them to find out about the clips and how the videos were circulated in public,”

The three celebrities face a jail term of up to 16 years as it is illegal after the controversial 2008 Anti-Pornography law in Indonesia for sexually explicit material to be filmed or photos taken.

Meanwhile the sex scandal has resulted in adds staring the stars to be taken down in the country with a huge majority of Muslims.

All three of the stars have denied the videos but several experts have said that the people featured in the videos do have a resemblance.

Indonesia is not an Islamic state but has an overwhelming Muslim population of over 88% of the estimated 230 million population.

The country has a democratic government but pre-marital sex is seen as a taboo in the country as it is against the cultural views of much of the country’s population.

Gaby Deslys was a Dancer and Actress who attracted notoriety for her many males admirers not least King Manuel II of Portugal, who lavished her with gifts.

Newspaper stories gossiped about King Manuel's infatuation with her. Manuel is thought to have given her a pearl necklace worth $70,000 and other gifts followed. One was a diamond necklace with black and white pearl drops set in a platinum band. Deslys collected pearls to such an extent that before she died she asserted she owned her weight in them.

She was rumoured to have married American dancer Harry Pilcer amongst others, she denied them all. Such was her fame that during a performance at Yale, the inflated price of admission is thought to have triggered the students to pull the seats to pieces and proceed to riot. Deslys retreated to her room while stage hands used fire extinguishers to subdue the students.

She also showed little fear of critics and she sued one of her most prominent detractors, Ernest Charleshim, for $50,000 francs in August 1912. She had at first considered hiring a groom to horsewhip Charles before her lawyer advised against it.

Sadly she died in the great influenza outbreak of 1919, partly because she refused to let surgeons scar her neck.

Hoàng Thùy Linh, Vietnamese Actress Singer is now famous for another sort of tonsil work.

Yes she is another victim of the bedroom camcorder ... in September 2007, Hoang Thuy Linh there was the usual 'sex scandal' after an anonymous release of a sex tape her ex-boyfriend Vu Hoang Viet, which later quickly spread via the Internet especially in Vietnam .... a regime not renowned for its sexual tolerance and liberation as Vietnamese Singer/Actress Dinh Thoai Yen Vy found out.

It appears that this time the authorities have had to take account of the opinion of the younger publics opinion who wanted leniency, so no labour camp for her .... but a close escape!

She has continued her career as a singer and entertainer (no more TV work) and has apparently remained successful in Hanoi.

Mary Eaton was an actress, singer, and dancer in the 1910s and 1920s. She enjoyed success in stage productions such as the Ziegfeld Follies and early sound films including a Marx Brother's movie, but found her career in sharp decline by the mid 1930s, as was her families (they were also performers).

She struggled with this fall from grace, and took to the bottle and she died in 1948 from liver failure after several spells in rehabilitation programs ....... her chances of recovery were not helped by the fact that she married three alcoholics (including screen director Millard Webb and entertainer Eddie Laughton), and her brother and sister, Charles and Pearl, were also having drinking issues at the time.

Dorothy Gibson was at one point the highest paid actress in the world (along with contemporary Mary Pickford), this survivor of the sinking of "The Titanic", was a 'star' of the highest magnitude, yet who remembers her now?
She might just as well gone down with the ocean liner for all she is recalled today. Fame is a fickle fate, it can forget you as quickly as it raises you up.

She started as a model for various magazines and periodicals such as Ladies' Home Journal and was married to a Mr George H Battier in 1910, whom she left around 1912, but didn't divorce until 1916. She had done some Silent movie work as early as 1911 and was an instant hit in popular one-reelers as 'Miss Masquerader' (1911), but her most famous role was that of herself in 'Saved From the Titanic' (1912), based on her experiences in the legendary disaster, and released just one month after her rescue. . .the only known prints were destroyed in a 1914 fire at the Éclair Studios.

Ms Gibson retired from film in 1912 to pursue a classical musical career, where she appeared at the Metropolitan Opera House in Madame Sans-Gene (1915).

On a personal level things were just a tad more complicated, firstly she embarked in 1911 on a long affair with married movie tycoon Jules Brulatour, head of distribution for Eastman Kodak and co-founder of Universal Pictures, while she was herself still technically married.

In 1913, while driving Brulatour's car she killed a pedestrian and in the resultant court case her role as his mistress was exposed to the public glare. Although Brulatour was already separated from his wife, the humiliation of the scandal determined her to sue him for a divorce, which became official in 1915 and Gibsons divorce was completed in 1916. They married in 1917, however this turned out to be an illegal marriage and was dissolved, to much accompanying publicity, two years later, as an invalid contract. Brulatour apparently stated that his divorce was illegal, as he had said he was a resident of the state in which it took place, when he wasn't. She had requested $48,000 alimony but got $10,000.

The court suggested that both had been unfaithful during their marraige, and the final papers were not served until 1923.

To escape the gossip and start a new life, Gibson left New York for Paris, where she remained, except for the four years she spent in Italy during World War II. Apparently intially a Fascist sympathiser (and possible spy, although for whom its not clear) she apparently had a conversion of beliefs in 1944 (after the allied invasion of Italy .... convenient!).

She was arrested just as the war in Italy was ending, as an anti-Fascist agitator and jailed in the Milan prison of San Vittore, from which she escaped with two other prisoners, and she ended up back in Paris where she died in 1946.

There are many unanswered questions on her stay in Nazi occupied Europe, not least of which is why she was never arrested by the Nazis in Paris or Italy, some of these questions are answered here (or at least her statements on these issues are recorded here).

Ella Margaret "Gibby" Gibson (aka 'Margaret Gibson' or 'Patricia Palmer'), was an American stage and silent film actress. She was no great star, even at the height of her powers, being mainly in westerns and using a number of stage names between 1912 and 1922.

In 1999 it was reported that on the afternoon of October 21, 1964 she made a dying confession to the murder of director William Desmond Taylor (for whose murder, another of this threads stars, Mary Minter was a long time suspect).

But her bad publicity problems started in 1917 when she was arrested for vagrancy under circumstances which included allegations of drug (opium) dealing. After a well reported public trial the actress. who "during intermissions... was the center of a bevy of young women," was acquitted but the bad publicity forced her to quietly change her screen name to Patricia Palmer (among a list of other names).

This was followed in 1923 with an arrest and charges of federal felony involving an alleged nation-wide blackmail and extortion ring. Despite the seriousness of the charges and a certain amount of evidence, the charges were later dropped by the district attorney's office.

Her career was all but finished .... and this was before the confession of murder 40 yrs later. She married in 1935 after fleeing to Singapore, but a severe infection and the advent of war brought her back to LA but her husband was killed in a Jap raid on Singapore in 1942.

Her confession in 1964 followed a heart attack when sensing that she was dying, an apparently highly distraught Gibson asked for a priest and then confessed to neighbors of the February 1, 1922 murder of Hollywood film director was in Taylorology a magazine dedicated to the unsolved murder.... its also hinted that she had fled to Singapore in 1935 to avoid yet another set of serious but undisclosed charges. It's speculated that her earlier alleged connections with a blackmail gang, may have been the reason for the murder i.e. a failed blackmail attempt.

Elinor Glyn was a novelist and scriptwriter, who worked in Hollywood in the 1920's (Valentino amongst others benefited from her writings). Her very career was a scandalous one at the time ...... she wrote about "IT" and the "IT Girl" aka sex!!! She was the pioneer who created mass-market women's erotic fiction ... Mills And Boon built an empire on her creation.

Of course by today's standards her prose hardly raises an eyebrow, let alone anything else, but hey, for the times this was hot stuff. But before all this came the late marraige (28 was practically maiden aunt time in the 1890's), but despite 2 kids, they were unhappy and she turned to various lovers to put 'IT' back into her life. This allegedly includes an affair with Lord Alistair Innes Ker which scandalised contemporary Edwardian society circles. She also had a long lasting affair between 1906 and 1916 with the 1st Marquess Curzon of Kedleston.

Due to her husband falling into debt from 1908, Glyn wrote at least one novel a year to keep up her standard of living untl he died in 1915.
