Janis Schmitt (born March 14, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri) is an American model and actress. She was Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month for its February 1978 issue. Her centerfold was photographed by Ken Marcus.

Janis worked as a Bunny at the Playboy Club in St. Louis, and enjoyed an acting career following her Playboy appearance. She still lives in her hometown and is now a grandmother.

I have a story about Janis, you might not believe it, but here goes:

Back in 1978 I worked as a salesman for a local hifi chain in my home town. In the fall of 78 the store had a big company wide tent sale at our store and as part of the promotion they hired a Playboy playmate to attract the male contingent. It was Janis. Earlier in February I had gone gaga over her in her PB pictorial, and here she was in the flesh. 31 years old and absolutely, positively, astonishingly, breathtakingly gorgeous. She wore a one piece skin tight black spandex outfit. I think I sold some hifi gear that day but don't remember because my blood was boiling due to Janis.

That night after we closed the owner took the staff and Janis to a very nice restaurant in town, and Janis sat between me and the manager of the store, a real nice guy. I remember telling him later that I didn't taste my dinner, in fact I didn't remember what I ate. He laughed and said the same thing happened to him.

After dinner I either got drafted or volunteered to take Janis back to her hotel. I walked her to her door and thought to myself, what the hell. I said to her I'll never have a chance like this again, and may I kiss you goodnight? She smiled and said sure, and laid a whopper on me. My legs almost gave out on my way back to my car.

I remember it like it was yesterday, despite the thirty years since it happened.

Don't have much from her in my files, and this one is a bit damaged.
I must have her portfolio somewhere, I should take some time to scan it.
