Yes, unfortunatly died of cancer on March 11 2008.

I'm currently reading "Brush With Passion: The Art and Life of Dave Stevens" a fantastic book about, well his art and life! There's a whole chapter dedicated to Bettie with some fantastic full page prints. There's also a lot on the Rocketeer movie (watched it again last night! Love that film!) and comic books about his frustrations dissappointments in the film not doing well at the box office and not being able to produce more Rocketeer comics.

I highly recommend it!
