Have to agree 100%.

Women in the '80s were chic, sexy and - above all - feminine.

These days though, style, sexiness and femininity seem to be taboo (or else completely alien concepts) to the "current generation" of 20-somethings.

Visiting the UK just this past week, the only words that I can find to describe what passes for "fashion" these days are "skanky", "chavvy" and "scruffy".

I mean: Those low-cut jeans that sit on the hips and make the wearer's arse look flat and rectangular??!! NO THANKS!!

Short skirts combined with socks or those godawful pop-socks??!! WHAT ARE THEY THINKING??!!

Shorts worn with opaque tights??!! In the words of Marlon Brando's character in 'Apocalypse Now': "THE HORROR, THE HORROR"!!

But the rot set in back in the early '90s with the onset of the grunge era. That and the mushrooming of the whole politically-correct "equality" thing, which resulted in females having it drilled into them from a very young age that they're "the same" as boys / men and that "you can do anything that they can do".

Small wonder then that a growing number of young women these days seem to think that it's cool to (a) dress like a sack of shit and (b) act like boorish blokes by binge-drinking and behaving in a loud and raucous manner, with the liberal use of foul language and having cat-fights in the street on a Saturday night (all of which I witnessed only last weekend in the otherwise sedate English seaside town of Folkestone).

I hope that one day the pendulum might start to swing back the other way, but sadly there's still no light at the end of the long, dark tunnel.

Thumbs up Silver Rose

Fleabag, once again I thank you very much for your further scans from Silver Rose, especially the 85/6 catalogue, which has revealed further ‘new to me’ pictures of Carole Anne Stevenson. My apologies for the slightly delayed response, but I haven’t ‘logged on’ to VEF for a while.

Going back to the Silver Rose 84 catalogue, could I ask you - if you still have this catalogue - what the full text says on the front cover - or if you have a scan of it, post that if its easier. (My reason for asking this is so I can record the complete text details of the cover in my Carole Anne magazine listing.)

Thanks for your help.
