Here's Tina in 1959's "The Trap". Ripped from a VHS tape, the picture's a bit indistinct but that figure of hers is magnificent, particularly when draped in a silky white slip as in this brief scene. In this clip, her screen husband threatens to force himself upon her but she is in no mood to accept delivery of a sausage consignment and repels his lecherous advances.

I think that's a good guess. Appering as a "playmate" in a centerfold would have been a step backward in (or a hindrance to) her career at that point. Today, a half century later, with actresses who constantly bare their bodies without any consequences on their career, we forget that there was a real "stigma" to appearing in Playboy as a centerfold back in the 50s and early 60s: you were immediately branded as a B-level "nudie" model. In the Midwest, I can still remember women of my mother's generation referring to Playboy (in the 1950s) as "pornography" and the first time I ever saw an issue displayed out on a magazine rack in a "family" store like a drugstore (rather than in the "seedy" news stands near the train or bus station) was in the mid-60s after the sexual revolution began. Otherwise, they were hidden behind the counter along with condoms, and you had to ask for them. In most parts of the country, the magazine arrived in a "plain brown paper wrapper" and in some states it wasn't permitted to receive it through the mail at all, in the early years.
By the time Tina acted in God's Little Acre, pictures of her had already appeared constantly in every imaginable magazine, from the standard "family" mags like Life and Saturday Evening Post to all kinds of adventure, sports and mens mags. (All you need to do is check eBay listings to see her mentioned in a huge array of publications.)
So, she was way beyond being a "centerfold"; that would have been a real step backward for her career. Instead, by appearing in a "pictorial" she was reinforcing her image as a legitimate "rising star", a definite "cut above" the (often anonymous) herd of playmate fodder. The fact that her nudity is only hinted at in that pictorial (http://img207.imagevenue.com/img.php..._122_243lo.jpg) made her all the more desirable.
If anything, her popularity was so strong in the late 50s and early 60s that she became (as someone else has pointed out in this forum) the only non-playmate ever to appear in a Playboy calendar (1962 http://www.imagebam.com/image/7ce1c722735055/).

Here is a question I would be curious about: the famous images of her in a blue negligée (the only ones where we see her nipples http://www.imagebam.com/image/67021122734992/), which appear in a 1960 Playboy spread about young hollywood actresses, appear to have been made in Rome, during her two-year stint doing movies in Italy (where she also appeared on the covers of dozens of Italian and French magazines). The Playboy Calendar images appear to come from that as well (shot on a Roman movie set). Finally, there is one completely topless image (very grainy, possible mis-attribution: I assume its her, and most sources agree that it is her http://www.imagebam.com/image/cf099a22734995) appear to be shot in the same room as the blue negligée images. So: where did those pictures first appear? Did Playboy buy exclusive rights to all of them, or are there still many more shots from that photo session floating around somewhere (perhaps in some obscure Italian or French mag), which haven't made it to the Internet yet?
