I use winrar to split the vids. It´s easy. The steps are:
1.- select the .avi (wmv or mpg)
2.- select button ADD
3.- in the new windows, select 98.078 ZIP in SPLIT IN VOLUMES
4.- upload to rapidshare all the volumes (eg .rar .r01 .r02 . rxx)

A lot people use something like HJSplit (www.freebyte.com), a tiny free piece of software for filesplitting (go figure). RapidShare.com has a 100MB cap for non-members as far as uploading goes. Megaupload, Megaerotic (the same services actually), DepositFiles (lots of spam ads but it's an option) and Gigashare all have much higher tolerance for larger files to share.

Using HJsplit on .avi and .mpg (or any other movie files) is OK. But please don't use it on .rar files. Because doing so means we'll be using 3 times the file size on our HDs just to view te movie. Better to split the .rar files directly with winrar. Saves our hard disk space and enables us to view the movies faster after we've downloaded them.
